Things To Do
Bailieborough is a vibrant and busy town in East Cavan 1½ hours drive from Dublin. It is in the centre of Irelands Lake District. With its many pubs supermarkets, restaurants including a chinese and the Hotel Bailie in the centre of the town ensure Bailieborough caters for all visitors. The town boasts a fine public library, the beautiful restored 17th Century Wesleyan Chapel, Arts and Cultural Centre. Bailieborough is dramatically located under the watchful eye of Lough-an-Lea mountain (1119ft) an area of outstanding natural beauty. On a fine day it is possible to see 14 counties from the summit.
Fishing
Bailieborough is renowned as a fisherman’s haven with the town lake and several other lakes surrounding within two mile radius providing excellent course and pike fishing.
Golf
There is an 18 hole pitch and putt course within three miles of Bailieborough. It is open all year round and equipment rental is available. Also a 9 hole golf course is just eight miles away in the town of Virginia. And an excellent 18 hole golf course only fifteen miles away in Kells Co Meath.
Horse Riding
There is a local horse riding centre on the outskirts of the town.

A heated Swimming pool in the town centre offers large pool, Gym, Jacuzzi and steam room.
Walks
You can enjoy walking in the beautiful Drumlin Hills of east Cavan the very heartland of Irish countryside. Laugh-an-Lea mountain is a fantastic scenic path with beautiful views and lots of wildlife. Also the woodlands around the Castle lake are renowned for quiet walks in idyllic surroundings.
Virginia is worth a visit just 8 miles drive from Bailieborough. It is sited on the shores of Lough Ramour has several restaurants, a nine hole golf course with narrow tree lined fairways overlooking Lough Ramor, and the Ramor Theatre where you can enjoy regular performances. Also an angling hub, popular with pike anglers. Deerpark Forest Walk Virgina A beautiful forest walk on the shores of Lough Ramour is a must.
Annual Virginia Street Fair
The annual Virginia Street Fair, held on the last Sunday of June every year, is a reconstruction of Virginia's original 'Fairday' with animals, trading on the street, craft demonstration and entertainment. Visitors can see Cavan's largest display of vintage vehicles and participate in traditional Irish music and dancing.
